Measurement and limits
Carbon estimates are estimates.
The homepage estimate multiplies 50,920 transferred bytes by the SWDM v4 total energy intensity of 0.300 kWh/GB and the default global grid intensity of 494 gCO₂e/kWh. The broader audit covers 58 generated HTML pages; their average first load is 30.5 KB. The broad system boundary includes operational and embodied emissions attributed across data centres, networks, and user devices.
Website-carbon tools use transferred data as a proxy. They are useful for comparison and improvement, but they do not directly measure every server, network, or visitor device involved.
The site therefore publishes concrete technical facts and dated measurements rather than describing itself as “zero carbon”. Hosting-energy evidence will be added when the production provider has been selected and independently verified.
